WHY WE RIDE
We Pedal for Tyrayah through Ride for A Child:
Tyrayah, Age 16
~ diagnosed with T Cell Lymphoblastic Lymphoma. She was experiencing chest pains and was referred to Childrens Hospital to run tests. Over two years ago, on August 1st 2019, she was diagnosed with a softball size mass in her chest & a blood clot in her neck. She started chemo immediately. Her family felt so helpless. Chemo has been tough on Tyrayah and she spent almost a year in the hospital with a rare side effect of the chemo~ nerve damage. She lost mobility from the neck down. Good news followed as she started neurotherapy and was moved to Rankin Jordan! She loved the new facility and regained movement in her hands & legs. It is a slow process as she continues to travel back to Childrens Hospital for chemo & has started PT two days a week. Tyrayah is able to use a walker now! She & her family take one day at a time and they are excited to be a part of our Pedal the Cause family, not only because it raises money for cancer cures & prevention, but it lets families know they are not alone.
Alicia's Army is riding in honor of Tyrayah!
A note about Matthew~ he continues to be cancer free and kicking it as he grows stronger & taller & he is our Ambassador for Alicias Army!
More About Why We Ride:
Each and everyone of us has at least one special person in our life who has battled or is battling cancer. It really does not matter which type of cancer it is. What matters is that we want to do something to make the difference now and for the future of our families and friends. We know that it takes world-class research to create a world without cancer. And by participating in Pedal the Cause, we know that 100% of our donations will go directly to accelerating cancer research at Siteman Cancer Center and St. Louis Children's Hospital. This team has been formed to build a legacy for Erika & Haley Wrob who lost their sweet mama Alicia to cancer at the tender age of 13. Those of us who love these special girls support them as we honor our dear mother, friend, daughter, sister, daughter-in-law ~ Alicia Jones Wrob. Come join us and make THE DIFFERENCE for your special friend, sister, mom, brother, neighbor, co-worker or whomever you desire to keep present in your heart!
