For the 8th straight year, we are joining the fight against cancer by participating in the 10th annual Pedal the Cause bike challenge. Pedal the Cause has the mission to provide funding for cancer research at Siteman Cancer Center and St. Louis Children's Hospital through their annual cycling challenge in hopes that the research funded by their event will ultimately lead to a cure for cancer.

In 2019, we ride for multiple reasons.

We ride for Nick Porter who rode his first PTC in 2017 after years of donating. He then discovered in December of 2017, he had colon cancer stage 4. 12" of his colon was removed and he completed his initial treatments in late 2018 after having ridden in his 2nd PTC and raising over $4,200. His positive attitude and wonderful view on life have been an inspiration to me personally and many family, friends, and even strangers who have read his CaringBridge posts. To sum his attitude up in a few words: Nick hates the saying 'It is what it is'. He thinks it should be 'This is what it is. How do I change it or make it better?'. I couldn't agree more as this attitude is one of the driving forces behind Team Keeley and Pedal The Cause itself.

We ride for our team member, John Christian Sr, who passed on August 5th, 2016. John had battled cancer on and off for over 24 years and beat prostate, colon, melanoma, and bladder cancers while living a faith-based life filled with family, friends, and fun. The Hammer was the original inspiration on why Team Keeley was formed and rode in their first PTC. Thanks, Hammer, for all of the love you shared with us and the world!

We ride for Issa Alovor who is continuing his battle against Pilocystic Astrocytoma grade I. This tumor was found on his brain stem in 2009. After many ups and downs over the past 6 + years, his condition is now stable and he has been symptom free for over 3 years now! On June 1st, 2018, Issa graduated high school and is headed off to Missouri S&T to continue his love of science and math. Keep it up, Big Man!!

We ride for Bryor Lacey who was diagnosed with Pre B Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia in early 2016. He is a spunky almost 5 year old boy who loves all things trucks, animals, and Cardinals baseball. He has been on maintenance treatments since 2016 and in March 2017 returned from a trip to the Cardinals Spring Training in Florida which was sponsored by the Make A Wish foundation. He continues to get monthly treatments and his end of treatment date has been set for April 0f 2019. This year Bryor will be riding in his 2nd Kids Challenge but his 1st on his 2-wheeler!!!!! He is super excited to say the least!

We ride for every person that has been and will be diagnosed with cancer.

We ride for those who have fought the valiant fight with cancer and moved on.

We ride because cancer still exists. We will continue to ride until cancer is dead and we live in A WORLD WITHOUT CANCER.
