WHY WE RIDE
iRide is the official peloton of the Washington University Institute for Informatics (I2). I2 provides an academic and professional home for informatics science and practice at the Washington University School of Medicine, working with partners throughout the university, including the McKelvey School of Engineering, the Brown School of Social Work, the Olin School of Business, the Institute for Clinical and Translational Science, the Institute for Public Health, and the Siteman Cancer Center. In addition, I2 collaborates with both the Health Innovation Lab and Center for Clinical Excellence at BJC Healthcare.
Our work focuses on the use of data-centric approaches to solve complex problems. Our trans-disciplinary team brings together doctors, scientists, professors, researchers and more in the pursuit of innovations in the healthcare and life sciences fields. In doing so, we seek to harness and manage big data, leading to a number of benefits including an accelerated rate of scientific discovery, improved clinical decision making and the ability to promote healthy behaviors at a population level. This new knowledge is generated through the capturing, storing, mining and analyzing of diverse data resources, from DNA sequences, to electronic medical records. At the Institute for Informatics, we're using this data to transform research, education and patient care.
As dedicated biomedical researchers, educators, innovators, and members of the Washington University Medical Center community, we ride in Pedal The Cause in order to create a world without cancer!
