WHY WE RIDE
We ride because we are Powered by Hope. We are inspired by the vision that one day there will be a world without cancer. So join us, whether you ride with us in person, in the spinning tent or virtually, your support will go a long way. In fact, 100 percent of your contribution will go directly to support cancer research at Siteman Cancer Center and St. Louis Children's Hospital.
This year Team Powered By Hope's 2018 Ride for a Child is Luca! He is 9 years old and was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL) in December of 2016. He will continue his treatments until April of 2020. Luca loves riding his bike, playing soccer and baseball, and having fun outside with his friends. He loves the Cardinals, the Blues, country music and KidsBop. Luca is an Honored Hero for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society hiking team and participated in PTC's Kids' Challenge last year. All who meet him make the comment, "What a cool kid!" We are thrilled to ride in honor of Luca this year, and to have his parents, Angela and Jered, and siblings, Rocco (6) and Roseanna (4), as part of our Powered By Hope community!
Of course we would never forget to ride in memory of our brave little 'Leo the Lion'; or in honor of Allison, our petite princess; Peyton, our unstoppable bundle of energy; DJ, our kind and loving not-so-little boy; and Kaitlyn, our growing teenager!
New this year, Team North Glendale Elementary, led by Team Captain Emily Ford (sister to Allison, our 2016 RFC Kiddo), will be riding under the umbrella of Powered by Hope. Allison was diagnosed in 2015 with Rhabdomyosarcoma. Fortunately, Allison?s cancer responded very well to her treatment plan. She completed radiation in February of 2016 and chemotherapy in October of 2016 at St. Louis Children?s Hospital. Allison was healthy enough to ride alongside her sister Emily in the 2017 Ameren Kids Challenge & both girls are so excited to recruit classmates at North Glendale Elementary to ride with them this year as part of the Powered by Hope family!
We are also excited to bring Team HopeMark Preschool, led by Maizie Ellingsen, under the umbrella of Powered by Hope! Maizie and her classmates can't wait to ride in Ameren Kids Challenge to raise money for cancer research!
