This year's Pedal The Cause event is Sunday, September 29th ~ my third annual 10-mile bike ride for team "Powered By Hope" to help raise funds for cancer research. Here's my story and the most recent update...

As you know, on November 15, 2016 I was diagnosed with a malignant stage 4 Pancreatic Neuroendocrine Carcinoid (NETs). Because this is a rare type of cancer, the usual chemo and radiation treatments weren't an option for me, nor was surgery or a liver transplant. So, in 2017 I had three very difficult procedures to try to cut off the blood flow to my liver to help keep the extensive number of tumors from spreading and possibly shrink some as well. That was a temporary fix, if you will, and with only one other type of treatment left as a last resort, we started to feel desperate. Fortunately, in 2018, a newly FDA approved drug called Lutathera (PRRT) became available and I qualified immediately. In fact, I was one of about 10 patients to start this new treatment in St. Louis at my hospital ~ Siteman Cancer Center. Fast forward to today....my latest CT scan and MRI shows STABLE disease in my pancreas, left lung, and liver which means there aren't any new tumors, but more importantly it shows that some of the tumors have also died!

So you see, I am living proof of what Pedal The Cause donations do to support critical cancer research, but it all begins with funding. I would be thrilled if you could help me in my journey by donating to my ride (on this page at the top right)!

Also, if you haven't seen it yet, I was recently chosen to be a 2019 Featured Rider for Pedal The Cause on KMOV Channel 4 ~ check out the 2-minute video below!!

I would be honored to have your support.
