I ride for me. I ride to remember how strong I am, how far I've come, and how much fight I still have in me. On September 19, 2017, it will mark one year since my second brain surgery to remove Daisy (the astrocytoma in my brain). The tumor had returned (oopsie daisy!) after I had shown no evidence from cancer after my first surgery in February 2012. In the past year, I have had two brain surgeries, 6 week combo of radiation and chemotherapy, followed by chemotherapy each month through now. Chemotherapy will continue at least through March 2018. But get this...the treatment I'm going through now wasn't even available to me back in 2012! Researchers at Siteman Cancer Center have advanced their treatment options for my type of cancer and they are hoping this keeps Daisy from coming back too quickly. What's even more incredible? This phenomenal research institution is just two exits from our house. We don't have to travel to another state to seek out the best, we have it right within our reach!

My family knows cancer far to well. My father and mother are both battling small cell lung cancer. Mom was placed on hospice earlier this summer and Dad is currently on a trial treatment. Both have received care at Siteman Cancer Center. Both have received hope, resources, and time with us from the treatments and care they've received. Dad has benefited from two trial options available to him. This race supports cancer research like his.

I am proud to join Pedal the Cause in the fight against cancer and ride for 1.5 hours on September 24. I'm riding because I'm Powered By Hope and because I know the cure is out there. When Daisy returns, we need there to be advancements in treatment options. The goal listed is the minimum I need to raise to ride. My personal goal is to surpass that fundraising minimum in a meaningful way. Your donation can help make that possible.

It takes world-class research to create a world without cancer. Please help me in this journey by donating to my ride, and give with confidence knowing that 100% of your donation will go directly to accelerating cancer research at Siteman Cancer Center and St. Louis Children's Hospital. My Mom is 100% worth it. My Dad is also 100% worth it. I'm 100% worth it. And so are YOU.

Thank you for helping me in this fight!
