WHY I RIDE

After a year off from Pedal The Cause, I?m jumping back on my bike in the fight against cancer. This will be my fourth year riding with the amazing WWT team, and I am excited to see what we can do to help fuel the fight against cancer in our fundraising efforts.

Why I ride
I ride for my friend Mark Fredrickson, who passed away in Jan 20222 after a five-year battle with brain cancer.
I ride for my friend Trisha Britt whose beat cancer twice and is a great inspiration for living your life.
I ride for my friend Sean Scott beat cancer in April 2019 and whose humor and approach to his fight are second to none.

New Inspiration
Unfortunately, I?m adding another person to my inspiration list this year. My sister, Jamie Grieshaber, was diagnosed with breast cancer on 9/1/22, one day before her 40th birthday. It?d be easy for someone to let anger and frustration creep in on arguably the worst birthday gift imaginable, but that?s not Jamie?s style. In fact, I recall a celebration with cake, a party hat, and a commitment to continue smiling, laughing, and fighting until this thing is beaten. As you can imagine, the road has been filled with extreme highs and lows since that day, but the one thing that has not changed is her constant ability to show up every day with a smile, joy in her heart, and a fighting spirit. That?s my sister.

I won?t be riding alone this year as my son, Graham, has decided to jump on the bike with me and get his first PTC ride under his belt. I suspect he?s in it for the sweet medal we get at the end, but hey, who am I to judge his inspiration?
