WHY I RIDE

I am proud to continue riding Pedal the Cause in the fight against cancer. Pedal the Cause is more than the region's top cycling event. It's a way of life, a celebration, and a movement fueled by the courage to end cancer. I was diagnosed with colon cancer on December 11, 2017. On January 8, 2018, I was told it metastasized to my liver and lung, so I was at Stage IV. Even after 49 infused chemo treatments, five radiation treatments, and three surgeries, I'm still alive and battling today. In March of 2021, the cancer had now spread throughout my lungs, and I was put on a new cycle of drugs called, STIVARGA. That did not work. This past May, I was diagnosed with bone cancer in my left shoulder and elbow, and I was told the disease was spreading in my lungs. I continue to look for treatments in the form of radiation and pills.

I was riding in Pedal the Cause before I had cancer, during cancer, and I will continue to ride as long as I'm alive. I ride for all my family and friends who lost their battles and continue to battle. PTC is a top notch organization making a difference in the fight to end all cancers. I'm honored to be a part of it, and I hope you can find a way to ride, donate or volunteer as well.

It takes world-class research to create a world without cancer. Please help me in this journey by donating to my ride, and give with confidence knowing that 100% of your donation will go directly to accelerating cancer research at Siteman Cancer Center and St. Louis Children's Hospital.
