Many of you already know my story. I was diagnosed with Hairy Cell Leukemia in January 2010. This changed my life but mostly in a good way. I first walked into the hospital with a hemoglobin level of 3.9. That's extremely low. My body quit making blood cells and was only manufacturing hairy cancer cells. Everyone was amazed that I was able to walk on my own 2 feet. The first stay in the hospital was about 3 weeks. I felt compelled to keep pushing forward, to endure, to perpetuate. Maybe it was the awesome care I received from my nurses and docs or maybe I was transfused with some superpowered blood. Since then I've been an active cyclist and runner. I've become a person that I never would have imagined when I was younger. This year I'll be participating in Pedal The Cause. I am raising money to help research and beat this disease. Without research I would not be here today!
