WHY I RIDE

I am once again soliciting your donations for the "Pedal The Cause" ? A race AGAINST cancer!

As you all know, I have been a runner my whole life (well, since age 14) and last year decided to participate in a new experience. It involved cycling for a great cause! After the Pedal The Cause race last year, I am even more inspired to be riding for a cause again in 2012!

Everyone knows I have worked for Clayco for almost 14 years and I am proud to be riding with "Team Clayco" for this event.

We all know someone who has been affected by cancer. Almost 2 years ago, Jason and I lost our friend Joe Ellis to Cancer and Jason's grandmother, Nita VanBebber, was diagnosed, fought and won against breast cancer almost 4 years ago. Joe & Grandma VanBebber are 2 of the many people who I am riding for on that day!!! I am very thankful for the advances in medicine, and hopefully one day, all cancer will be curable.

Clayco has a fantastic opportunity to support a great cause - raising money for cancer research. This year "Team Clayco" will be "Riding for a Child." Maddie McPherson is darling 6 year old and is currently fighting a rare type of cancer called Rhabdomyosarcoma and Team Clayco will ride in her honor and will ride with a lot of HEART (along with a lot of sweat).

Pedal the Cause is a St. Louis bicycle fundraising event that takes place on October 6-7. More than a thousand cyclists meet at Soldiers Memorial Military Museum in downtown St. Louis and ride one of three courses. All riders share a single goal: to find a cure for cancer. I will be one of the riders and I have pledged to a fundraising commitment.
