Once again, I have decided to join the fight against cancer by participating in the Pedal the Cause bike challenge on September 26 and 27 to help raise money for life-saving cancer research. I will ride to find a cure.

I will ride for all of those who have faced, or will face, a life-changing cancer diagnosis. I ride for my mother, and for a number of cousins, aunts, uncles, and a far-too-young nephew, all who lost their battle against cancer, and I also ride for all those who have won. I ride for my older sister who triumphed over colon cancer diagnosed in late 2012, and I ride for my younger sister who is currently undergoing treatment for breast cancer.

And, I ride for me. As many of you already know, in 2013 I was diagnosed with Stage IV Ovarian Cancer. It was a very scary time, but unbelievably now almost seven years have passed, and the medicines and treatments I have received to date have been miraculous. I am so grateful that wonderful doctors and available medicines have brought me to where I am today. I am also thankful for all the prayers and kind acts, and for God's grace. I am feeling great and very hopeful. I am, however, aware that this journey is not over for me, and there is no cure. More research needs to be done, and research is expensive. And, that brings me to the purpose of this letter.

I ask each of you to please consider donating to this necessary cause. Be assured that 100% of your donation will go to cancer research here in St. Louis, at either Siteman Cancer Center or St. Louis Children's Hospital. Yes, 100% of what you give not only stays in St. Louis, but 100% goes to important life-saving research. If you are interested, you can click the 'Our Impact' button on the website to see what projects have been funded thus far. No donation is too small and every donation is truly appreciated.

I pray these funds help with the work to find the breakthroughs in cancer research that we all need. I'm sure every person reading this has been touched in some way by cancer, and we need to continue to search for cures and better treatments. You can help. You can make a difference. Maybe you can be a part of finding that cure. Think about it, and please make a donation. And, if you would like to ride with me, I would love to have you join me.

Thank you so much.
