I am proud to join Pedal the Cause in the fight against cancer.

A few years ago my friend Ryan was diagnosed with cancer. This rocked my world. Ryan is my age and has a young family. It could have easily been me who got that diagnosis. Ryan started treatment at Siteman Cancer Center very quickly. He noticed that he was losing some hair so we decided to shave our heads before it all fell out. Fast forward several months and he got to ring that glorious bell at Siteman Cancer Center proclaiming his victory! He has had multiple follow up visits and they have all confirmed that he is indeed cancer free.

Just a few months ago my friend Brandon was diagnosed with Leukemia. He went to the ER for a strange pain expecting to get a quick diagnosis and a prescription. Unfortunately that was not the case. They ran tests after test not sure why he was having this pain. Then after a much longer stay than expected he was given the tough news. He was diagnosed with a very aggressive form of Leukemia, which led to an aggressive treatment plan. Brandon has received several rounds of chemotherapy and a bone marrow transplant and is currently recovering. In a few months we will find out if the treatment was successful.

Just like Ryan, Brandon is around my age and has a young family. Hearing the news of his Leukemia hit me just has hard as hearing of Ryan's cancer. Again... this could have been me.

Ryan and Brandon are two reason that I ride. I also ride for my Aunt Debbie and a dear family friend, Rich, who lost their battles to cancer long ago. I ride for all those who are currently or will be battling cancer. Let's raise funds and fight back!

Please help me in this journey by donating to my ride. You can give with confidence knowing that 100% of your donation will go directly to accelerating cancer research at Siteman Cancer Center and St. Louis Children's Hospital.
