WHY I RIDE

I lost my brother to this terrible disease on March 15th, 2019. He was my best friend, my confidant, my role model, and one of my biggest inspirations. I'm heart broken, but I'm also determined to keep fighting this disease and help find a cure. I ride because my brother rode for this cause that was so near & dear to his heart, and so that there are less heartbroken people in the future due to this darn disease.

I've had so many blessings in my life, but two of the greatest of these were my amazing brother, Dave, and my sweet friend, Tara Boland. They were both diagnosed with aggressive cancers at a young age, and both fought so hard. They were inspirations to everyone around them. They both chose to take their diagnoses and use them in ways to benefit and inspire others. Tara taught both Dave and I to make today count--- to treasure every single day that we have here on earth. For 11 years now, Tara's smiling face has been taped to my computer monitor, so I stay focused on finding the positive in each day, even when life is overwhelming. Both Dave and I were better people because we knew Tara. Among so many other things, Dave taught me to see the goodness in others & to take time to get to know people. He taught me to relax and not take things so seriously. And of course he taught me the benefit of working smart, not hard whenever possible. :) He had a way of making things look easy & humorous, even amid the hardest battle of his life. I'm forever changed because I had these two people in my life.
