I am riding In Memory of Jason Hill.

On September 30th, I will have the honor of riding in Pedal the Cause for the 4th year. I will ride 50 miles.

Last year, we rode without our Team leader, Jason Hill.
Jason was diagnosed with stage 4 brain cancer in 2011, as he was turning 40. He created a team of Pedal the Cause riders in 2012, and was fiercely devoted to fundraising for accelerated cancer research.

Jason died in March of 2016. As the reality set in that we would be riding without Jason last year and in the years to come, without our friend, without our inspiration for riding in the first place, we still knew we would ride. We pledged to keep his legacy alive. I know he would be proud of the way we have chosen to honor his life. Last year we began the ride with hugs from his dad and his beautiful wife Trish, and finished the ride with our new team leader, his sister Jennifer.

As I train, and when I ride on September 30, of course I think about Jason. I think of all those people who I know who have to face cancer, who don't get to quit when treatments are painful, who feel like they are always riding up a steep, grueling hill. Every year as I ride, my personal list of people I ride for gets longer. This year 2 people for whom I cared deeply died from cancer. And 2 more people who are very, very dear to me were diagnosed with cancer.

I am grateful to say that you can donate with confidence knowing that 100% of your contribution will go directly to accelerating cancer research at Siteman Cancer Center and St. Louis Children's Hospital.

Please help me, Jason's family, and countless others in the fight against cancer. Any amount that you are able to donate to my ride will be appreciated beyond words.
