WHY I RIDE

I ride for my Aunt Felicia.

I moved to St. Louis in 2010 to start a three year graduate program. This was the farthest I had ever been from home and my family. Fortunately, I had my Aunt Felicia, Uncle Scott, and cousins, Evie and Sara, close by to make the move a little less scary. Words cannot describe how grateful I was to be with them for Sunday barbeques, Evie and Sara's epic birthday parties, and the annual Saint Charles Christmas festival, but most of all for their help in making St. Louis a home. My Aunt was diagnosed in January 2013 with Gallbadder cancer which is extremely rare in someone as young as she. During her fight against cancer, she demonstrated strength and bravery undergoing several treatments and surgeries. In September, 2013 my Aunt lost her battle. Not a day goes by that I do not think about and miss my Aunt. I am grateful for fundraisers such as Pedal the Cause whose goal is to end the fight against cancer. I look forward to returning to St. Louis to participate in Pedal the Cause with my Uncle and the other members of Ausbury's Angels in memory of my Aunt Felicia.

I am proud to join Pedal the Cause in the fight against cancer. Pedal the Cause is more than the region's top cycling event. It's a way of life, a celebration, and a movement fueled by the courage to end cancer.

It takes world-class research to create a world without cancer. Please help me in this journey by donating to my ride, and give with confidence knowing that 100% of your donation will go directly to accelerating cancer research at Siteman Cancer Center and St. Louis Children's Hospital.
