WHY I RIDE

This is my seventh year riding in Pedal the Cause, and I am even more cognizant of the importance of this event. After working in various scientific research areas for over 20 years, I have directly seen how integral increased funding is for moving towards cancer treatments and cures. Cancer personally affects me on multiple levels. I have had family members pass away from this devastating disease, as well as studying the mechanisms underlying tumor growth in my career as a scientist. I am optimistic that we will discover novel treatments and possibly even cures in the next few years, but that will only be accomplished by increased basic science funding. Pedal the Cause is a wonderful event, and all the money raised will stay here in St. Louis and fund those working towards a world without cancer.
