I am riding In Memory of Jason R. Hill.
WHY I RIDE
My brother Jason lived with a rare and aggressive form of head and neck cancer for 5 years, and each year rode his bike 25 to 50 miles in this event even as he recovered from chemo. He was courageous, and positive, and lived his life with enthusiasm up until he died in March of 2016. He started this team, and inspired me to join him. Jason also lost his best friend Jeff to lymphoma during his last year. Jeff's cancer was supposed to be curable, and instead he lived less than a year. 22 years ago my mom also died of cancer at the age of 59 after 2.5 years of almost constant chemotherapy and painful procedures. My aunt Sandy... my dear friend Linda... Kay... Chris... Marilyn. The list is endless. The treatments people have to endure are barbaric, and we have to do better.
This is an extremely personal issue for me, and I have dedicated my professional life to helping people cope with it. I'm proud to have the chance to raise money 100% of which will go directly to the Siteman Cancer Center, where my brother had excellent care that kept him going well beyond the amount of time anyone thought he could. Please help me raise money for this cause (my commitment is $2500), to help fund not only treatment but research that might help others avoid going through what our family has. Their ongoing and excellent research will benefit people throughout the country and beyond. Jason founded Team Brain Trust, and he was passionate about this event and this cause. It meant a lot to him to have others support it as well.
Thank you, Jason, for the example you set for all of us. We hope to do you proud.
If you didn't know Jason, but would like to, the first 2.5 years of his blog were published in a book that you can get on Amazon - CancerandChrist - by Jason R. Hill.
