WHY I'M INSPIRED

The word CANCER introduced itself to my family at the age of 16 when my grandmother was diagnosed with Leukemia losing her fight on September 30, 2000. It was roughly one year later when this disease would again find a way back into my life when my father was diagnosed with a Ewing Sarcoma Tumor in the soft tissue of his upper thigh. With an optimistic prognosis that it was caught in the early stages, he continued with treatment at the Siteman Cancer Center, only later to find out that it had spread to his spine leaving him paralyzed from the waist down. From the beginning we never gave up or lost hope as he fought this disease with everything he had, but after 10 months his body had succumbed to the cancer, passing away on July 3, 2002.

In honor of my Dad and Grandma, along with all other families and friends who have too been affected by this disease, I am proud to join Pedal the Cause in the fight against cancer to END this horrible disease. Pedal the Cause is more than the region's top cycling event. It's a way of life, a celebration, and a movement fueled by the courage to end cancer.

It takes world-class research to create a world without cancer. Please help me in this journey by donating to my ride, and give with confidence knowing that 100% of your donation will go directly to accelerating cancer research at Siteman Cancer Center and St. Louis Children's Hospital.
