# Dear family and friends,

This Sunday, September 30, I'll be cycling and fundraising for a very important event that is near and dear to me, Pedal the Cause.

This will be my seventh year to ride with Teri Griege's team, Powered by Hope. As a Stage III colon cancer survivor, I am forever grateful for the excellent care and treatment I received from Siteman Cancer Center in 2013.
I was unaware at the time of my diagnosis, but I also was a candidate for an important research study that Siteman was sponsoring. I was asked to be part of a clear colon study that tracked patients while going through either 12 or 6 rounds of chemo and taking daily either a placebo or the drug Cyclebrex. Because I knew that Sitemam is a renowned medical research center, I decided to support Siteman and participate in this blind study. Six and a half years later, they are still following me as part of the study.

As many of you already know, in late 2016, after getting my annual mammogram, I also was diagnosed with stage 1 breast cancer. While unrelated to my first diagnosis, once again, I had to ride the ups and downs of this crazy disease.

More than anything, I pray that in my life-time, we will find a cure for cancer. That is why I am continuing to participate in Pedal the Cause. PTC has the mission to provide funding for cancer research at Siteman Cancer Center and St. Louis Children's Hospital through this annual cycling challenge in hopes that the research funded by their event will ultimately lead to a cure for cancer.

Please join me as we pedal toward a world without cancer. 100% of your donation will go to directly to cancer research. Any support you can give will be greatly appreciated by me and countless others.

Thank you and God bless.
