WHY I'M INSPIRED

I stumbled into finding Pedal the Cause about August of 2013 when I was at my local bike shop. I immediately signed up to ride. Cancer has impacted my family and friends so dramatically, as you can see from the extensive (and probably not all inclusive) list below. That first year, I just paid the $500 myself, didn't fundraise, didn't do anything but show up and ride 50 miles. The environment downtown (at the time) was so overwhelmingly positive, fun, and yes, sad and emotional. But after that, I was hooked, and I realized that many others would like to participate in helping me create a world without cancer. I FIRMLY BELIEVE WE ARE WITHIN A FEW YEARS OF FINDING A CURE FOR MOST CANCERS!

I am riding in memory of:
My Aunt, Sharon Christian, and my Uncle, Jerry Christian
My Aunt Charlotte Brown
My Aunt Beverly Lutes
Uncle Ted Brown
Aunt Barbara Brown
Joe Younger, my friend's father.
Esther Markell, my friend's mother
Bobby Page, my friend's son
Pam Barnett
Jenny Davison

I am riding in honor of:
A special medium sized boy named Daniel, who beat retinoblastoma at age one and who is giving back to this day by riding in the Ameren Kids' Challenge.
My friend Ray Nash who not only beat throat cancer, but also beat skin cancer.

Unfortunately this list grows every year, but I will keep riding until we can say everyone's list will have no more names on it.
