I am riding In Honor of Jeanne.

If you know me, you know that running, biking - exercise of any kind - isn't my idea of a good time.
But I have plenty of energy, full brain function (questionable) and a body that works, which is more than I can say for some of the kids - babies - I see on a regular basis at Children's Hospital. Infants who can't even walk yet with skull-dividing scars from ear-to-ear, kids pushing IV poles instead of swinging bats, toddlers who pronounce words like "rhabdomyosarcoma" or "neuroblastoma" with as much ease as "playstation" or "princess."
All of a sudden, riding a bike doesn't seem so bad. In fact, I'm thankful for the ability and the opportunity, especially if riding can help raise money to fight and cure cancer.
There's research going on at Washington University School of Medicine and, by extension, St. Louis Children's and Barnes Jewish Hospitals, that has already opened doors to new medicines, new treatments and new hope for people fighting cancer. And every dollar raised by Pedal the Cause stays in St. Louis to support these research projects.
I'm planning to ride the 20 mile course. (Yea, there's a 100 mile option, but I said I had full brain function.) This may not be a "marathon" to some people, but I hope it's enough to earn your support for this very important cause.
