WHY I RIDE

I am participating in the eighth annual Pedal the Cause bike challenge and will again co-captain Dr. William Gillanders team Biking to Beat Breast Cancer. I am a 6+ year breast cancer survivor, my mother is also a breast cancer survivor, as well as a survivor of stage 3 uterine cancer. She is truly living proof of the fabulous research being done at Siteman. Pedal the Cause is unique, in that 100% of the funds raised are dedicated to support cancer research!!

I also ride in memory of my many young friends, whose lives were cut way too short as result of cancer and in support of many friends who are fighting cancer now. Pedal the Cause (Pedal) has the mission to provide funding for cancer research at Siteman Cancer Center and St. Louis Children's Hospital through their annual cycling challenge in hopes that the research funded by their event will ultimately lead to a cure for cancer. Pedal provides much needed seed funds for promising, innovative, yet unproven therapies, for which large grants from the NIH and other funding sources are not available. In fact, Dr. Gillanders was the recipient of a 2013 Pedal Grant for his work on a breast cancer vaccine, and was also awarded an additional Pedal Grant in 2015 to continue this promising research.

Many of you have generously contributed in prior years, and I am extremely grateful for your support. Please help me in this journey to find a cure by donating to my ride. Donate in honor of someone you know that is currently fighting cancer, in memory of someone special who lost their life to cancer, or in celebration of the survivors.

I hope you will join me in this grass-roots effort to advance research and find a cure.My Link
