I am proud to join Pedal the Cause in the fight against cancer. Pedal the Cause is more than the region's largest cancer fundraiser. It's a way of life, a celebration, a family and a movement fueled by the courage to end cancer.

I have decided to join Pedal the Cause in memory of Jacob Swaderski and his family, and all the other acquaintances that are currently going through cancer treatment or in remission. Back in 2010 when I went through the greatest trial of my life, I hit my knees and found Jesus and turned my life over to Him. In that trial is when I joined a men's bible study group and I was introduced to Jacob's story of being a child that was going through multiple surgeries and cancer treatments and he did so with great courage and such a positive attitude. At that time, I was a parent to my son who was the exact same age as Jacob. That is when I realized that my most difficult trial that I was going through was nothing compared to what Jacob and his family was going through. It humbled me to stop focusing on myself and my difficult trial and start focusing on what I could do for others and for God's Kingdom.

Although I never got to meet Jacob prior to his passing, I will never forget him and how he helped me through the most difficult time of my life. So I have decided to ride for Jacob and his family's memory. I am going to attempt to ride the 100 mile Big Muddy Century ride. This distance would be more than double my personal record for my longest ride ever completed if successful. We do not make a big impact if we stay in our comfort zone, so I am going to make myself uncomfortable! Those who have to fight against cancer do not have a choice to be comfortable, so neither do I.

Please support my efforts by donating to my fundraiser, and give with confidence knowing that 100% of your donation will fund lifesaving cancer research at Siteman Cancer Center and Siteman Kids at St. Louis Children's Hospital.
