WHY I RIDE

On Sunday, December 20, 2020 16 year old high school junior Addi Darnell woke up with a sore neck. Less than 24 hours later she was in a mobile ICU on her way to Children?s Hospital in St. Louis. Addi was officially diagnosed on Wednesday, December 23 with Stage 3a Bulky Hodgkins Lymphoma. She had cancer throughout her lymph nodes in her neck, large chest mass, and also in her spleen. Addi was enrolled on a Clinical Trial at Children?s as her first line of therapy. Addi underwent an extensive chemotherapy and immunotherapy regime over the next 6 months. We were told that after the chemotherapy she would need either radiation or stem cell transplant due to her advanced stage. Addi was able to finish chemo and ring the bell on Friday, June 4, 2021 just days before she turned 17 on June 9th. On July 2, 2021 Addi was gifted a miracle and is now Cancer FREE!!!! No further treatment is needed at this time. A clinical trial SAVED her life.
