WHY I RIDE

This is my 12th year riding in Pedal the Cause and each year this seems to gain more significance in my life. Cancer has impacted all of us in some way and It continues to hit close to home for me and my family. A few years back, my father was diagnosed and successfully treated for prostate cancer. Recently, we lost my God Mother to Liposarcoma, she was an amazing lady and fought with such bravery and dignity. Such a legacy she left with her life of Faith.

So this year, I am riding for so many family and friends and again of course for my hero warrior nephew, Aiden Howard Maul, and all of the kids like him that are dealing with this horrible reality. Aiden is now 16, he was diagnosed with Wilms Tumor in Dec. of 2012 then battled hard and won. Cancer then relapsed to his lungs and lymph nodes in Dec. 2013 and he battled and won again.

I am excited to continue the fight against cancer by participating. PTC has the mission to provide funding for cancer research at Siteman Cancer Center and St. Louis Children's Hospital through this annual cycling challenge in hopes that the research funded by their event will ultimately lead to a cure for cancer. PTC gives 100% of all money raised to local cancer research.
