WHY I RIDE

I am proud to join Pedal the Cause in the fight against cancer. Pedal the Cause is more than the region's top cycling event. It's a way of life, a celebration, and a movement fueled by the courage to end cancer.

In 2008, my mother was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. She has been in remission for many years now, but my family is acutely aware of the challenges cancer can bring. Thankfully, we are also aware of the lifesaving treatments which have been developed due to ongoing medical research.

I also have family friends and Scouting friends who have battled blood cancers, breast cancer, skin cancer, and colon cancer. One lost her battle with cancer in 2016, some are in remission, and, after over a year of aggressive treatment, another lost his battle with leukemia in April 2022. I am riding in honor of them, as a sign of support for their families and loved ones, and in hope that my miles and associated donations will help further world-class research leading to improved cancer treatments and cures.
