WHY I RIDE
For our 12th year in a row, Bob and I will be riding in the Pedal the Cause bike challenge, which raises money for cancer research at the Siteman Cancer Center and St. Louis Children's Hospital. This year we are riding 30 miles and again raising money with our Bill Box's Blue, Red and Grey Team. It's our team's 10th anniversary!
I am riding to help find cures for melanoma, colorectal, prostate, ovarian and breast cancer - just a few of the cancers that have affected my life and the lives of those close to me. As some of you know, I was diagnosed with melanoma in 2010 that fortunately was found early enough that it had not spread. In January 2022, Bob lost his mom to ovarian cancer, and we lost his dad just 19 days later to covid. Bob's dad had battled colorectal cancer in 2012 and prostate cancer before that. My grandma lost a breast to breast cancer, and Bob and I both know too many women who have battled breast cancer (and some who we've lost). Last year, my friend lost her husband after a 4-year fight - this year I'm riding in memory of him. There are many other stories - I'm sure each of your lives has been touched in some way by cancer.
I want to do my part by helping to raise funds for research so others can win the fight. Pedal the Cause supports early stage research projects that are not yet eligible for other funds such as government grants. Since 2010, over $41 million raised by Pedal the Cause has funded 211 adult and pediatric cancer research projects including melanoma, colorectal and breast cancer research. Details about the projects funded can be found on Pedal's website.
Please consider making a donation to support my ride. Any amount will help, and 100% of your donation is tax deductible and will go towards cancer research.
Donating is easy. Here is a link to my rider profile:
