Why I ride: I am again joining the fight against cancer by participating in the Pedal the Cause bike challenge. Pedal the Cause provides funding for cancer research at Siteman Cancer Center and St. Louis Children's Hospital through their annual cycling challenge in hopes that the research funded by their event will ultimately lead to a cure for cancer.

I know that cancer has touched many of our lives, whether family members, friends or perhaps even ourselves. I was diagnosed with melanoma in 2010, but fortunately it was found and removed very early before it could spread. My father-in-law fought his battle against colorectal cancer in 2012 and is currently in remission. My husband, Bob, and I are riding to honor him. We also have many other family members and friends who have battled cancer - and unfortunately, some are no longer with us. Cancer never seems to stop, but we can help raise money to find a cure!

Please help me in this journey to find a cure by donating to my ride. My goal is to raise $1,000 for cancer research this year, and have personally donated $250. Each rider also pays their own registration fee, and generous corporate sponsors cover the expenses of the event so that 100% of your donation goes directly to funding cancer research.

I plan to ride 37.5 miles with Bob and our team on September 24th and I hope you will join me in this grass-roots effort to advance research and find a cure by making a donation to my ride.
