I am riding In Memory of Donna Faye (Johnson) Verner.

I am excited to ride my 2nd year in Pedal the Cause for the fight against cancer. Pedal the Cause is more than the region's top cycling event. It's a way of life, a celebration, and a movement fueled by the courage to end cancer.

I plan to ride 50 miles this year for many family and friends who are survivors or who have left us much too early. I started riding with PTC in 2019 for my sister, Donna Faye, who lost her battle with lung cancer and its complications, 5 short months after being diagnosed in 2019. She was also a near ten year breast cancer survivor. In 2019, a friend?s husband passed in 2019 of melanoma, and a golf friend, Faye, who passed of kidney cancer that progressed quickly. In 2020, a golf friend, Sally, lost her two year battle with appendiceal carcinoma.

My friend Edie, who is part of this team, is an eight year pancreatic cancer survivor. I ride for my brother-in-law, Scott, who is a four year prostate cancer survivor. I have several friends who are breast cancer survivors, gynecological cancer survivors, or melanoma cancer survivors. I have a friend whose husband was diagnosed with bladder cancer in 2019 and continues his fight. At the end of 2019, a friend learned she has lung cancer and continues her fight. There are many more friends that are survivors and some that are still battling the fight, that I have not mentioned. I ride for all of you.

Cancer seems to be all around me of late. I feel called to do my small part to help fund cancer research by riding in the Pedal the Cause event and raising funds to support the research.

It takes world-class research to create a world without cancer. If cancer has touched you in some way, please help me in this journey by donating to my Pedal the Cause Fundraising Goals. If you choose to contribute, please have confidence knowing that 100% of your donation will go directly to accelerating cancer research at our Siteman Cancer Center and St. Louis Children's Hospital.

I ride for all who is touched by cancer in hopes we can one-day eliminate cancer from our lives.

Thank you for your support.
