I am riding In Memory of Lorraine Hirsch & Eleanor Bush.

As many of you know, on May 13, 2019, I was diagnosed with stage 3 rectal cancer at the age of 31. To date, I have completed radiation and am currently undergoing chemotherapy at Siteman Cancer Center. I cannot express into words the level of professionalism, support and commitment my care team has provided in the quest to save my life. Dr. Benjamin Tan and his entire team are incredible, and I am thankful everyday that I have the opportunity to live so close to a top-notch cancer center.

Given my recent diagnosis and the real impact cancer has had on my life and those around me, Pedal the Cause (PTC) is even more meaningful to me this year. In 2017, I taught a stationary cycling class in the "spin zone" at PTC with CYCLEBAR. This year, on September 29, 2019, I will once again have the great pleasure to teach on stage in the spin zone representing CYCLEBAR (Richmond Heights) + CYCLEBAR (Creve Coeur). CycleBar is an incredibly large part of my life, so having the opportunity to raise money for cancer research while doing what I love is a gift in itself.

Later in the morning on September 29, 2019, I will be riding the PTC Circuit, which is a 10 mile course, with Powered By Hope to raise money for cancer research for millions of families who have been affected by cancer.

Since 2010, PTC has donated over $24.3 million and funded 116 adult and pediatric cancer research projects that are creating new treatments, cures and improving patient outcomes. PTC relies on participants to set goals and fundraise so vital research continues. I am proud to join PTC in the fight against cancer.

PTC is more than the region's top cycling event. It's a way of life, a celebration and a movement fueled by the courage to end cancer. To live in a #worldwithoutcancer.

Please consider helping me in this journey by donating to my ride/fundraising efforts. 100% of what I raise -- literally every single penny -- will fund innovative pediatric and adult cancer research. My goal this year is to raise at least $500, but I am confident, with your efforts, that we can raise so much more.

It takes world-class research to create a world without cancer. Give with confidence knowing that 100% of your donation will go directly to accelerating cancer research at Siteman Cancer Center and St. Louis Children's Hospital.

Lastly, Caleb and I are immensely appreciative of your love, support and encouragement as we navigate our new normal.

Lots of love, Joanna
