WHY I RIDE

This is my first year participating in Pedal the Cause, and I feel so fortunate to be able to take part in raising money for such a worthy cause!

Almost everyone's life has been touched by cancer in some way, either through their own experiences or through those of a loved one. The broad impact of this disease is what first drew me to cancer research. I am currently training in the department of oncology at Washington University in St. Louis studying sarcoma, a rare and aggressive group of cancers. I am constantly inspired by the expertise, the innovation, and the passion that characterizes the scientists, physicians, and research at Siteman Cancer Center and St. Louis Children's Hospital. These institutions work tirelessly to discover new treatment options for both common and rare cancers and provide desperately needed expert care to the patients in the Midwest and beyond.

I am personally am grateful for the research conducted at Siteman Cancer Center and St. Louis Children's Hospital, as many dedicated scientists and physicians are currently working to improve treatment outcomes for cancers that have strongly impacted my family. This year I am riding for my grandparents, for the loss they have experienced, for the suffering they have undergone, and for the strength they have shown every step of the way. I ride with the hope that trials they have endured will someday be a thing of the past.

It takes world-class research to create a world without cancer. Please help me in this journey by donating to my ride and give with confidence knowing that 100% of your donation will go directly to accelerating cancer research at Siteman Cancer Center and St. Louis Children's Hospital.
