WHY I RIDE

Our cancer journey began in 2018 when Kevin was diagnosed with Thyroid cancer. He had surgery, radioactive iodine treatment and we thought we were done. We thought the cancer was gone. Then, almost exactly a year later, the cancer was back and he was having surgery again. Again, in 2021, we got the news that the cancer was back and it could also be in his colon. We went down the route of surgery, radioactive iodine but the cancer wasn?t gone so Kevin started radiation. Radiation was rough.

Is Kevin?s cancer journey over? I don?t know but I pray it is! We don?t know what the future holds. All I can say, though, is Siteman is incredible. As we continue this journey, I could not ask for better care for Kevin than Siteman.

I believe that a cure will come soon and people will not have to endure the pain of radiation. I ride so people, those who are diagnosed with cancer and those who love someone with cancer, won't experience that sick drop in their stomach. I ride for that cure to be realize.

I am proud to join Pedal the Cause in the fight against cancer. Pedal the Cause is more than the region's top cycling event. It's a way of life, a celebration, and a movement fueled by the courage to end cancer.

It takes world-class research to create a world without cancer. Please help me in this journey by donating to my ride, and give with confidence knowing that 100% of your donation will go directly to accelerating cancer research at Siteman Cancer Center and St. Louis Children's Hospital.
