WHY I RIDE

Update:
In June my sister lost her battle with breast cancer. I am reminded daily of the simple pleasures I am so fortunate to have that were taken from her way too soon as I tuck my children in at night, anticipate the sound, smell and feel of the beach, experience the satisfaction of a good workout, and so much more. I ride for my daughters and nieces and the generations of women to follow so that they can have more options and not feel the full weight of this terrible disease. Please consider donating to this worthy cause.

Over the years I have known many whose lives have been permanently impacted by cancer. Friends, family, and colleagues currently face this battle with strength and courage. Others have lost loved ones far too soon leaving gaps that can never be filled. Others are survivors who choose to embrace the possibilities of each new day while ever tamping down the worry that it may one day return.

A few year ago my sister-in-law was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. A year and a half ago my sister was diagnosed with breast cancer. In that time I am still not sure I have fully processed this. I often feel inadequate in what I can do to help and support them from afar.

I am proud to join Pedal the Cause in the fight against cancer. Pedal the Cause is more than the region's top cycling event. It's a way of life, a celebration, and a movement fueled by the courage to end cancer. I will be riding the metric century scaling 2394 ft across 66.7 miles. This is my first solo bike event and ~2.5X longer than my current longest ride.

It takes world-class research to create a world without cancer. Please help me in this journey by donating to my ride, and give with confidence knowing that 100% of your donation will go directly to accelerating cancer research at Siteman Cancer Center and St. Louis Children's Hospital.
