WHY I RIDE

I am proud to join Pedal the Cause in the fight against cancer. Pedal the Cause is more than the region's top cycling event. It's a way of life, a celebration, and a movement fueled by the courage to end cancer.

My picture shown was taken in 2010 after riding the Tour de Cure ride which is a ride for the American Diabetes Association. I participated in a lot of rides back in those days, including nine years riding the MS-150 for Multiple Sclerosis, to raise funds for various types of illness. This year I'm adding the Pedal the Cause ride for cancer research because I now find myself in need of a cure. In April 2018, I was diagnosed with esophageal cancer and am currently undergoing treatment at Siteman St. Peters. I can't say enough good things about the doctors, nurses and staff at that facility. They're the greatest. When you see the same folks either daily or weekly depending on your treatment schedule, they become part of your family.

It takes world-class research to create a world without cancer. Please help me in this journey by donating to my ride, and give with confidence knowing that 100% of your donation will go directly to accelerating cancer research at Siteman Cancer Center and St. Louis Children's Hospital.
