WHY I RIDE

I am proud to join Pedal the Cause in the fight against cancer. Pedal the Cause is more than the region's top cycling event. It's a way of life, a celebration, and a movement fueled by the courage to end cancer.

My grandma (Diane Diamond) was diagnosed with Stage 3 Lung Cancer in July of 2017. She went through 31 consecutive days of radiation (not including the weekends) and at the same time chemotherapy once a week for 10 weeks. Because of my grandma's diagnoses, she will never be cured. Our only hope is that the cancer cells do not return and take over her body. Currently, she has infusions of a drug called Imfinzi every other week and this will hopefully keep the cancer cells at bay. My mom and my Aunt Tracy went with my grandma to all of her radiation and chemotherapy sessions and my dad took care of me so that they could be there to help my grandma. Our family loves our "Mema" and we feel very grateful to all of her doctors for helping her stay well so she can enjoy her life and so we have more time with her.

We love you Mema!!!

My mema is not the only person that I know that currently has cancer. I take horseback riding lessons and I met the most thoughtful and caring person at the stables. Her name is Tammy and she is currently fighting cancer as well. She is in my nightly prayers and I feel blessed to have her in my life! Continue to stay well Tammy so we can take a riding class together soon!

It takes world-class research to create a world without cancer. Please help me in this journey by donating to my ride, and give with confidence knowing that 100% of your donation will go directly to accelerating cancer research at Siteman Cancer Center and St. Louis Children's Hospital.
