WHY I'M INSPIRED

Friends and family, I have a personal request of you.

On either September 26th or 27th, I will be riding my bike 100 miles in a fantastic fundraiser called "Pedal the Cause". 100% of the funds go to cancer research at Siteman Cancer Center here in St. Louis. I think that pretty much all of us have been touched by cancer in some way, but it's been a rough couple of years for those close to me.

This year, I am riding in memory of my Aunt Sarah who passed away from a brain tumor, and of John Traube - a friend and advocate for our local swim community who also passed away from a brain tumor. I also ride in memory of one of the best people I?ve ever known, David Weems who lost a battle with Melanoma many years ago.

Happily, I ride for my Father In Law, Lonnie Eggleston, who is in complete remission after a diagnosis of Diffuse Large B-Cell Lymphoma last year. I am also part of a team where we get to ride in honor of Amy Finley, who is kicking cancer's ass (she's in complete remission) and will win the battle.

Please dig deep and donate as much as you can to support this cause. How about donating $1 per mile - I know this is a strange year, but cancer doesn?t take a break, and neither can cancer research. Many of you know that I work in the cancer field, and I can personally attest to the amazing research that Siteman Cancer Center is conducting every single day. Thanks for your HUGE donation, and ride on!
