I am riding In Memory of Joseph Knittel.

WHY I RIDE

This year I ride in memory of my dad, Joseph Knittel. When he was first diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer I was not sure he was going to live long enough to be with me on my eleventh birthday. The weekly treatments and care he received from every doctor, nurse, staff member and volunteer at Siteman allowed him to live past his original diagnosis. My family and I got to experience the benefits of every single dollar that was raised in support of this unparalleled facility. No other care that he had received came close to what the Siteman facility provided. Each additional day he got to spend with our family and friends was truly a gift. I ride so that every cancer patient and their cancer family may get the opportunity to spend any additional birthdays, graduations, anniversaries, holidays, weddings and the gift of ordinary days with their loved one, with hopes for eventual advancements and cures.

I am proud to join Pedal the Cause in the fight against cancer. Pedal the Cause is more than the region's top cycling event. It's a way of life, a celebration, and a movement fueled by the courage to end cancer.

It takes world-class research to create a world without cancer. Please help me in this journey by donating to my ride, and give with confidence knowing that 100% of your donation will go directly to accelerating cancer research at Siteman Cancer Center and St. Louis Children's Hospital.
