WHY I RIDE

I am proud to join Pedal the Cause in the fight against cancer. Please help me on this journey to find a cure by donating to my ride. I have committed to raising money for cancer research and 100% of your donation will go to directly to this cause.

I plan to ride 63 miles on September 29th, 2018.

Pedal the Cause is more than the region's top cycling event. It's a way of life, a celebration, and a movement fueled by the courage to end cancer. I am riding this ride in honor of one of the most special women in the world, my mother in law, Janice Campbell. She was a strong vibrant woman that spent every day of her life giving her time, love and energy to others. She volunteered full time at the Storehouse for Jesus with my father in law to help people in need every single workday of the week. All that knew her, loved and respected her. In 2015, we found out she had stage 3 ovarian cancer. It was amazing how strong she was through this entire process. At 72 she went into each Chemo treatment with a positive attitude and sheer determination not to let this disease get the best of her. She also insisted on continuing to give back for a long as she could to her community.
Even though months later the disease won, it never broke her spirit. From the sock monkey hat she wore after she lost her hair, to the post-chemo dashes we had to do to get her a steak before she started feeling sick- she remained feisty and upbeat to the very end. She was literally laughing and enjoying being around her family hours before she died. I think of you and miss her every day and hope that I can do my small part in helping others be with their families longer than I had with her.

It takes world-class research to create a world without cancer. Please help me in this journey by donating to my ride, and give with confidence knowing that 100% of your donation will go directly to accelerating cancer research at Siteman Cancer Center and St. Louis Children's Hospital.

So many along the way have been devastated by this horrible disease and it takes the focus of many to end this once and for all. I want to be a small part of the solution.
