WHY I'M INSPIRED

I am proud to join Pedal the Cause in the fight against cancer. Pedal the Cause is more than the region's top cycling event. It's a way of life, a celebration, and a movement fueled by the courage to end cancer.

I am riding this year in memory of my cousin Ronna Croft, who is like a sister to me. I am so sad this year as she lost her 30+ year battle; one that she fought with courage and grace. As she lived her life everyday with kindness, warmth, compassion and love for all of those around her. She was a living example of what is best. I learned from Ronna the grace of accepting the difficulties of day to day life. I watched as she coped with her situation in a manner which far surpassed the way many of us cope with circumstances that are not life threatening. I have been enriched in ways I cannot describe by having had the privilege of Ronna in my life. We were inseparable growing up. A big part of who I am is a result of knowing her. We often rode bikes together as kids, teenagers and adults. So this year I ride for her and in memory of her mom, my Aunt Norma Nissenbaum, who also lived this struggle with cancer. Both my Aunt Norma and Ronna have given me more in life than I can ever describe and I am forever grateful to them. I regret that they could not be saved from this terrible disease and hope that riding for them will help all of those who suffer from this disease and help advance a cure.

It takes world-class research to create a world without cancer. Please help me in this journey by donating to my ride, and give with confidence knowing that 100% of your donation will go directly to accelerating cancer research at Siteman Cancer Center and St. Louis Children's Hospital. Thank-you.
