WHY I RIDE

I am proud to join Pedal the Cause in the fight against cancer. Pedal the Cause is more than the region's top cycling event. It's a way of life, a celebration, and a movement fueled by the courage to end cancer. It seems as though all of us are touched by cancer in some way during our lifetime. For me, my mother was diagnosed with lung cancer in September of 2016 and passed away in December that same year. I became her caregiver, along with my aunt, after her surgery in October 2016 and saw first hand how debilitating cancer can be to a person who had always been very independent and active. Then, in January of 2017, my very dear friend, Randalynn Vasel, was diagnosed with ovarian cancer at the age of 36. Once again, I saw how cancer affected a very independent and active individual. I am riding in loving memory of my mother, Jacqueline Malone, as well as Brittany Crosby and Chey Shaw who were both diagnosed with ovarian cancer in their 20?s and shared their journeys with so many women to help bring awareness to ovarian cancer. I am also riding in honor of Randalynn Vasel. I am adding a breast cancer survivor, Bev Berberet, to my list of amazing cancer survivors for whom I ride!!

I am very blessed to have the opportunity to ride and raise funds for cancer research. It takes world-class research to create a world without cancer. Please help me in this journey by donating to my ride, and give with confidence knowing that 100% of your donation will go directly to accelerating cancer research at Siteman Cancer Center and St. Louis Children's Hospital. Please remember there is no donation too small to help with research which hopefully finds a cure and creates a world without cancer.

Thank you for your donation in support of my ride!
