I am proud to join Pedal the Cause in the fight against cancer. Pedal the Cause is more than the region's top cycling event. It's a way of life, a celebration, and a movement fueled by the courage to end cancer.

My grandfather was very dear to me and had a larger-than-life type of personality. He was a physician, an avid woodworker, a pilot, and a writer. Visiting him when I was young was always an exciting time of listening to and learning from his many endeavors. The time he took to involve me in projects and teach me made me feel loved and important in my childhood.
In the early 1990s, he was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma and I watched a vibrant man become weakened by this terrible disease. He battled cancer through a number of treatments, but ultimately he lost his battle in 1994 when I was 14 years old.

My grandfather was the second person I lost to cancer, the first being my good friend Geoff Lynch who battled Leukemia for years during elementary school and in middle school. We lost Geoff during my 6th grade year and it was a deeply traumatic event for all of us who knew and loved with. He was an amazing friend and so fun to be around.

I ride for my grandfather and for my dear friend Geoff!

It takes world-class research to create a world without cancer. Please help me in this journey by donating to my ride, and give with confidence knowing that 100% of your donation will go directly to accelerating cancer research at Siteman Cancer Center and St. Louis Children's Hospital.
