WHY I RIDE

I am back (I took a bit of a break to be new mom to Coleman)! I am proud and excited to join Pedal the Cause once again in the fight against cancer. Pedal the Cause is more than the region's largest cancer fundraiser. It's a way of life, a celebration, a family and a movement fueled by the courage to end cancer.

And yes, I am BACK! And this year is EXTRA special because I have joined TEAM KYLE! My dear friend, Kira, lost her husband, Kyle, to pancreatic cancer this past year. Now, she is fighting back fiercely, raising money to fund cutting edge research and treatment. (You can follow Kira on Instagram to find out more! @theessentialsbykira).

I am also proud to say that I am an 8 year cancer survivor! In 2014, my entire world changed and changed quickly. I went from being engaged and planning a wedding to having a calendar filled with doctor's appointments, hospital stays, chemotherapy, shots, blood transfusions, radiation, and a stem cell transplant. I always knew in my heart that I would get through it all and I am grateful to be living the best life I can live as a survivor. And now, I have a miracle baby (almost 2 year old) because of the amazing doctors, treatments, studies, and research at SIteman (and much prayer and positivity)!

My life has forever been changed. Now, it's time to give back to those who are going through it today.
